s for an afternoon devoted to Beethoven at his most inventive\, daring\,
and uncompromising. The program follows Beethoven across very different p
oints in his creative life – from the playful “Eyeglasses” Duet to the ex
pansive String Quartet in C major\, Op. 59 No. 3\, the concentrated inten
sity of Op. 95\, “Serioso\,” and the astonishing Grosse Fugue\, a work wh
ose scale and radical musical language challenged listeners in Beethoven’
s own time and still sounds audacious today. San Diego’s Hausmann Quartet
has been part of the region’s musical life since 2010 and is currently A
rtists-in-Residence at San Diego State University. Beethoven Fest offers
a close encounter with a composer continually testing – and sometimes bre
aking – the boundaries of what chamber music could be.\n\nhttps://escoloc
